Frequently Asked Questions
Is this for groups only or can I do this on my own?
Grace Marriage at Home is designed for groups only—and here’s why.
We’ve found that couples thrive when they grow in marriage alongside others. Being part of a group creates a rhythm of accountability and builds a sense of community that keeps you encouraged and engaged.
That said, your group is not a place to air all your problems. It’s a safe, supportive space focused on learning, growing, and investing in your marriage. Group reflection is part of the experience, but the core goal is to help you and your spouse connect and strengthen your relationship.
You’ll grow more consistently—and enjoy the journey a whole lot more—when you’re not doing it alone.
What do I receive when I sign up?
When you join Grace Marriage at Home, you begin a powerful journey to strengthen and enrich your marriage—starting with Journal 1 – The Foundation. Each step of the way, you’ll be supported with thoughtfully designed content that sparks connection, growth, and intentionality in your relationship.
Here’s what’s included in each journal series:
- 2 premium leather journal style workbooks – Beautifully crafted to guide your journey and capture your growth.
- 24 high-quality video lessons – Practical, biblical guidance to walk you through every session.
- Engaging worksheets – Designed to prompt reflection and meaningful conversations.
- 52 weekly check-ins – One simple question each week to keep your marriage prioritized all year long.
- Bonus Resource Toolbox – Extra tools, tips, and ideas to support your marriage throughout the year.
Your resources are housed inside a private, members-only online platform, making it easy to access everything you need—anytime, anywhere.
Does every couple need a journal set or can I make copies?
Each couple is required to have their own journal set. The journals include all the worksheets, teaching prompts, bonus resources, and weekly check-ins that are essential for the full Grace Marriage experience.
To maintain the integrity of the content and respect copyright guidelines, copies of the journal materials are strictly prohibited.
Every journal is designed as a personal and lasting tool to help couples grow—and it’s worth the investment!
How do I start a group?
Start by gathering 4 to 5 couples you’d like to connect with—this size works well to balance diverse personalities, ages, and stages of marriage.
Invite them to explore the “At Home” tab on our website to learn more about Grace Marriage and what to expect.
If your home or meeting space allows, you can add a few more couples, but keep in mind that larger groups can make deep discussions harder because too many voices may compete for attention.
Starting with a smaller, close-knit group helps create a safe environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing and growing together.
How do I become a Grace Marriage "At Home" facilitator?
Becoming a Grace Marriage at Home facilitator is simple—and you don’t need to be a marriage expert to do it!
We provide step-by-step training to equip you with everything you need to lead a group with confidence. Training is:
-
💻 Online and on-demand – Go at your own pace, when it works for you.
-
📋 Straightforward and practical – We walk you through how to host, lead discussions, and keep things on track.
-
✅ Designed for real people – You don’t need all the answers. You just need a heart to invest in marriages and help couples grow.
Once you purchase your journals and are working to establish your group, reach out HERE and we will provide you with everything you need.
What happens after we finish the first journal series?

Grace Marriage at Home is just the beginning of a long-term journey. Once you complete the first year, you don’t stop—you move forward!
We offer a total of 7 unique series—one for each year—with all new content in every one. Our goal is to help you and your spouse continue to grow, stay intentional, and keep your marriage strong year after year.
When you finish the first year, you’ll be able to order the next series so your group can continue meeting and building momentum together.
Grace Marriage is designed to be a sustainable rhythm for a healthy, lifelong marriage—not just a one-time experience.
How long are the sessions?
Each Grace Marriage at Home session is designed to last about 90 minutes, and groups typically meet once a month.
During that time, you’ll go through two video lessons together. This pace allows for:
-
Meaningful fellowship
-
Time to watch the videos
-
Worksheet reflection
-
Private discussion with your spouse
-
And group reflection to encourage one another in the group
Setting aside 90 minutes creates a relaxed, unrushed environment where couples can grow and connect in a meaningful way—both with each other and the group.
What if a couple misses a session?
No worries—they won’t fall behind if they miss a session!
Everyone in your group has full access to the videos and materials online, so you can easily catch up on anything you missed.
Each group handles sessions a little differently. The facilitator will let determine how the group operates:
-
Some groups watch the videos together and fill out worksheets when they meet.
-
Others ask couples to watch the videos on their own ahead of time, complete the worksheets, and come ready for discussion.
Either way, the flexibility of the platform allows everyone to stay engaged—even when unforeseen emergencies keep someone from attending.
Who teaches the sessions?
Grace Marriage at Home features a trusted team of teachers with a heart for helping couples thrive. Each brings a unique perspective and depth of experience:
-
Brad & Marilyn Rhoads – Cofounders of Grace Marriage. Brad is a marriage pastor; Marilyn is a former counselor. Together, they bring biblical wisdom and practical tools to help couples grow.
-
Dr. Juli Slattery – Clinical psychologist and co-founder of Authentic Intimacy. Juli is known for her compassionate, faith-based approach to intimacy and connection in marriage.
-
Debra Fileta – Licensed professional counselor and author of Choosing Marriage and Are You Really OK? She brings deep insight into emotional health, communication, and healthy relationships.
-
Jeff & Shaunti Feldhahn – Bestselling authors and researchers behind For Women Only and For Men Only. They use data-driven insights to help couples understand and support each other better.
-
Gary Thomas – International speaker and author of Sacred Marriage. Gary equips couples to see marriage as a spiritual journey and a powerful tool for personal and relational growth.
With a blend of expertise, encouragement, and biblical truth, these voices guide you through every session with clarity and care.
What kind of technology is required?
To participate in Grace Marriage at Home, you’ll need reliable internet access and a device that can stream videos—like a tablet, laptop, or desktop computer. Ideally, you should have the capability of displaying on a television either through a wired connection or reliable screen casting.
All the materials are hosted online in your private member site, so as long as you can connect and stream video, you’re all set!
Is this a Bible study?
Not exactly. While everything in Grace Marriage is biblically based, this isn’t a traditional Bible study.
Instead of a deep dive into biblical texts, Grace Marriage focuses on the practical side of biblical principles—helping you live them out in your everyday marriage. You’ll build a strong, intentional foundation rooted in Scripture, with real-life tools to help your relationship thrive.
Think of it as applying your faith to your marriage in tangible, life-giving ways.
Is this for couples in crisis?
Grace Marriage at Home is designed to help couples grow and strengthen their relationship in a healthy, supportive environment.
If a couple is in deep crisis where having open conversations feels too difficult or painful, this program may be challenging for them. In those situations, it’s often best to seek individual counseling or therapy first to work through immediate issues.
Once a couple has begun healing and communication improves, Grace Marriage can be a valuable next step for building a stronger, more resilient marriage.
What if one spouse isn't interested in participating?
We’ve found that Grace Marriage works best when both spouses are fully engaged. If only one partner participates, it can be discouraging for that person—and it’s often less effective overall.
While it’s understandable that interest levels can vary, we generally recommend that both spouses commit to the process together. If one isn’t ready, it may be better to wait until both are willing to invest in the journey side by side.
Can engaged couples participate?
Participation for engaged couples is left up to the group facilitator and depends largely on how soon the couple is getting married.
Because not every lesson, worksheet, or discussion is designed with engaged couples in mind, facilitators will help decide if the timing and content fit the couple’s situation.
If engaged couples do join, it’s important they and the group understand that most of the material is specifically tailored for married couples.
I have friends who aren't Christians. Can they benefit from the group?
Absolutely! Grace Marriage is designed to help all couples grow, whether they’re strong in their faith or just beginning to explore it.
Your friends will gain practical tools to strengthen their marriage—while also getting a clearer picture of the Gospel and how God’s grace applies to everyday life, especially in marriage. As they learn how to show grace to their spouse, they’ll also be introduced to the grace God offers them.
It’s a powerful blend of practical marriage skills and gentle, Gospel-centered truth that can encourage and challenge couples—no matter where they are in their faith journey.
