DO WELL!!!!
When Cain got jealous of his brother Abel, God told him, “if you do well, your spirits will be lifted.” Well, Cain chose killing Abel over doing well and it didn’t go so well for him.
For us, when we get in our head and struggle, when we get flat and uncaring or when we are tempted to make a bad decision, we need to “do well” so our “spirits will be lifted.”
Over the past few weeks, I have been struggling with feelings of coldness and apathy. I have been doing some of the right things, but I have just been going through the motions. Then, I woke up one morning and almost heard the words, “if you do well, will not your spirits be lifted?”
So, I decided that I am just going to love, serve and do what I know to be right. And God was faithful. My spirits were lifted, and I am now in a much better spot. One country singer wrote a song that talked about her “give a dang being busted.” Well, she didn’t say “dang”, but you know what I mean.
The reality is: Sometimes, we know we should care and be compassionate, but we just aren’t feeling it. When this happens, do well!!! It will help fix your “give a dang” and will “lift your spirits.” It will benefit your marriage and every other relationship you have.
ACTION ITEMS:

- Remember the Benefits: Remind yourself that doing well and making positive choices can improve your emotional state. Reflect on past experiences where choosing positive actions led to better feelings and outcomes.
- Stay Faithful and Consistent: Even when you don’t feel like it, maintain your commitment to positive behaviors and actions. Trust that consistency and faithfulness in doing what is right will eventually lead to an improved emotional state and a lifted spirit.
