SQUEEGEEING THE SHOWER?

We all do things we would never do if we weren’t married. I organize and stack nine pillows on my bed each day. I squeegee that shower door every day so it will not streak. I try to kill the weeds in the front yard even though, when mowed, they are as pretty and green as grass. I light candles in the kitchen in the morning because it is very important to spend money to have a good house scent.

Now, to be fair to Marilyn, she does a lot of things she’d never do as well. She goes to UK football games and wears blue. She shoots content videos with me at Grace Marriage. She often lives in a messy house and rides in my gross car. She shops for bargains at discount stores and Goodwill to honor the budget man she married.

Scripture tells us to consider the interests of others above our own and to lay down our lives for our spouse. It is an absolute must to do things you would not otherwise do to have a growing marriage. Remember that we come to life by giving our lives away.  So, instead of resisting what blesses your spouse, do everything you can to do what Scripture calls us to and outdo one another in showing honor.

ACTION ITEM: Think of something that is important to your spouse that you don’t think is that important. Then, do it on a consistent basis to show you love and are thinking of our spouse.
